Do I need a physician’s referral?

Simply put, no. SC is a direct access state. You are able to be seen by a physical therapist for up to 30 days before a referral is needed. After 30 days, we will contact your preferred provider to request a signed plan of care for continued treatment.

Wellness visits are also offered for those looking to optimize their physical health and well-being and also for injury prevention. Wellness visits do not require a physician’s referral and are not reimbursed by insurance.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and credit card at the time of service. HSA/FSA are also accepted.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a cash based, out of network medical provider. This allows us to provide the optimal care and treatment necessary, without the limitations placed by insurance companies.

When you are in-network, you are limited by what insurance will reimburse you for, which limits the services provided. At Empower Pelvic Health & Wellness, we work for the patient, not for insurance.

We will provide a superbill after each visit that contains the necessary details needed for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

We do recommend contacting your insurance provider to figure out what your out of network benefits are prior to your appointment.

What can I expect on my first visit?

We will do a full review of your medical history, a functional examination, and an internal pelvic floor examination to figure out how the muscles of the pelvic floor are performing. These muscles are inside the pelvis, so the best way to truly assess and evaluate is through an internal exam. If you are not comfortable with this, you and the physical therapist will work to come up with a plan that best suits you and your needs, without the internal portion of evaluation.

We will address all of your goals for physical therapy and come up with a detailed, individualized treatment plan. All of your questions will be addressed and answered, so that you leave feeling comfortable, hopeful, and empowered.

How long do visits take?

The initial evaluation and follow up treatment visits will take approximately one hour.
